IMPORTANCE

 1. The independence day is celebrated on August 15 every year to remember india's freedom from the British rule in 1947.

2. The prime Minister customarily raises the flag and give address to the nation.

3. On 15th of August 1947,the first prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru raised the Indian national flag above the Lahori gate of the Red fort in Delhi.

4. This event is celebrated with flag hosting, parade,fireworks, singing patriotic songs and the Natinal Anthem Jana Gana Mana, speech by prime Minister of india and President of India.                                                                  The event is entirely broadcasted by Doordarshan, and usually begins with the shehnai music of ustad Bismillah khan.
